About the Experience

Are boat tours safe?2026-01-21T20:18:16-05:00

Absolutely. Safety is always our top priority. Our captains are U.S. Army veterans with strong backgrounds in safety, leadership, and situational awareness. A licensed captain leads each trip, and every boat is equipped with Coast Guard-approved safety gear, life jackets, and a marine radio for constant communication.

We also carry a First Aid kit on every trip, and our captains are trained in CPR and emergency response.

Additionally, we stick to calm, protected waters —such as marshes, tidal creeks, and the Intracoastal Waterway—not the open ocean, making our trips ideal for guests of all ages, including first-time boaters and families.

How many people can go on a tour?2026-01-21T20:15:33-05:00

Our tours are available for up to six people, excluding the captain and any possible mate. If you’d like to bring more than six, please contact us, and we will discuss options.

  • Why six people?  We can only host six guests per our license (per boat). A Six-Pack license, officially known as an Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels (OUPV) license, allows the holder to operate uninspected vessels carrying up to six paying passengers. The United States Coast Guard issues this license.
  • Can we accommodate more than six?  Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: With two licensed boat captains and two boats (and two golf carts on Daufuskie), we can accommodate more than six guests, but the group will have to be spread across two boats. It can be done, and we have done it before.
Where do you depart/pick up from?2026-01-21T19:46:42-05:00

We’re flexible. Most trips launch from Thunderbolt, just between Savannah and Tybee Island. We also offer pickups from downtown Savannah and Daufuskie Island with advance notice, but may be subject to a fuel surcharge.

Once you book, we’ll work with you to confirm the most convenient spot and send over everything you need to find us.

What is a boat tour? What do you do on one?2026-01-21T20:05:02-05:00

First of all, this isn’t your stuffy, run-of-the-mill tour.

Call it what you want—an adventure, beach day, outing, excursion, or just a break from the ordinary—our boat tours are whatever you want them to be. At Low Country Drifters, we offer private, customizable experiences that drift away from the script. Whether you’re hunting for shark teeth, exploring Daufuskie Island, spotting dolphins, or relaxing on a remote beach, you’re not just along for the ride—you’re writing the day as you go.

Explore some of our guests’ favorite activities here, and if you’d like, please don’t hesitate to contact us to continue the conversation.

How long are the boat trips?2026-01-21T20:13:49-05:00

It depends on what you want to do!

  • Our most popular boat tour is our half-day (4 hours).
  • Long summer days allow for an extended time on the water, however! Our full-day is 6 hours.
  • The water taxi to Daufuskie takes 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the elements.
  • Our sunset cruises last 2 hours.

If you’re on a half-day and want to spend some more time, the day is yours! Just talk to your captain to see if it’s possible; while on the boat, he accepts both cash, credit cards, and Venmo to extend the tour.

Will I get seasick?2026-01-21T20:18:38-05:00

It’s unlikely that you’ll experience motion sickness while on a tour with us. The Intracoastal Waterway differs from the ocean because it is primarily a sheltered, inland route, offering a much calmer ride with significantly less motion than the open ocean. However, if you are concerned, over-the-counter options such as Dramamine, Bonine, or simple pressure bands are available.

Are the Captains licensed?2026-01-21T19:56:50-05:00

Short answer:  Yes, our captains are licensed!
Long answer: To have a Captain’s license,  you must pass/have the following:

  • United States Coast Guard-approved course (50+ hours)
  • United States Coast Guard exam
  • physical exam and drug tests
  • First Aid/CPR course
  • a certain required amount of sea time experience
  • Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) card (background check required)

All members of our team are also CARE (Coastal Awareness and Responsible Ecotourism) certified, a program made possible by the University of Georgia Marine Extension & Georgia Sea Grant, and Manomet Conservation Services.

Will we see dolphins or wildlife?2026-01-21T19:56:25-05:00

Very likely! Dolphins are commonly spotted in our local waterways, where about 400 resident dolphins live. We also often see a variety of coastal wildlife like birds, stingrays, crabs, and the occasional manatee or sea turtle. While we can’t guarantee sightings (nature does its own thing), our captains know the area well and will take you through spots where wildlife tends to show up. Keep your eyes open—you never know what might pop up alongside the boat.

We don’t offer “Dolphin Tours” per se… because they are part of every trip!

Where are you located?2026-01-21T19:50:14-05:00

We are located in Historic Thunderbolt, Georgia, just minutes outside of Savannah, at the Safe Harbor Bahia Bleu Marina.

Are my kids welcome?2026-01-21T17:15:20-05:00

Absolutely—100% yes! We’re a family with kids ourselves, and we love welcoming young explorers on board. It’s a joy to share the water, wildlife, and coastal history with them. Just a heads up: all guests 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian age 18 or older.

Can we schedule a tour in the winter?2026-01-21T17:17:34-05:00

Absolutely! We offer year-round tours, including winter months. In fact, winter can be a great time to explore the waterways—there’s less boat traffic, the wildlife is still active, and the cooler temperatures make for a comfortable day on the water. Just dress in layers, and we’ll take care of the rest.

And for those of you who have dinner reservations, the sunset cruises depart much earlier.

If you have questions about what to expect during a winter tour, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help you plan the perfect outing.

Do you offer transportation or water taxis to Daufuskie Island?2026-01-21T19:08:04-05:00

Yes, and our guided Daufuskie Island tour is the best place to start.
Our most popular way to experience Daufuskie is on a fully guided island tour that includes boat transportation and a golf cart tour once you arrive. We’ll show you around the island, share its rich Gullah Geechee history, point out hidden corners most visitors miss, and introduce you to what makes Daufuskie so special. It’s a relaxed, immersive way to really understand the island and why so many people fall in love with it. Many of our guests end up planning a return trip for an overnight stay after seeing it firsthand.

We also offer private water taxi service to Daufuskie.
For guests staying overnight in vacation rentals, we provide private water taxi transportation to and from Daufuskie Island from Savannah. Our taxi schedule aligns with typical check-in and check-out times, and we’re happy to talk through luggage, timing, and golf cart rentals during the booking process. If you need a time outside our listed schedule, let us know, and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Can I customize my experience?2026-01-21T20:07:09-05:00

Yes, and we encourage it! Every trip with Low Country Drifters is private and tailored to your interests. Whether you’re into shark tooth hunting, island hopping, beachcombing, wildlife watching, or learning about coastal history, we’ll build the day around what you’re excited about. Just let us know what kind of experience you’re after when booking.

Pro tip: Custom boat trips are what we’re known for.

What’s included in the trip?2026-01-21T20:08:30-05:00

All charters, tours, cruises, excursions, and adventures accommodate up to six guests and include a U.S. Coast Guard-certified captain, fuel, safety gear, a cooler with ice and water, and plenty of local knowledge. You’re welcome to bring your own drinks, snacks, and gear for the day.

More specific information regarding our water taxi services may be found here.

How far in advance should groups book?2026-01-21T21:50:06-05:00

Advance booking is highly recommended (almost necessary), especially during peak travel months and conference season. We do not offer walk-up trips, and it’s rare if we have a Captain available for day-of or next-day trips.

Don’t let your trip slip away, book today!

What should I wear?2026-01-21T20:12:12-05:00

Since we book tours year-round, consider the season first. Savannah weather can be unpredictable, so layering is a good idea. Comfortable, quick-drying, casual attire is generally recommended. We kindly request that you arrive prepared, with sunscreen already applied.

Warmer weather

You’re on a boat! If you plan to swim or splash, consider bringing a swimsuit or other quick-drying clothing. Flip-flops, water shoes, Crocs, or similar footwear for your feet. Something to protect you from the sun, like a UPF shirt, is a great idea, too. Sunscreen is key. A hat (baseball hats usually work better when the boat speeds up, but brimmed hats are great for the beach).

But remember – the middle of summer is hot.

Cooler weather

A lightweight shirt, sweater, and jacket can help you adjust to changing conditions. A rain jacket can also serve as a windbreaker. While we’re in the South–be mindful that the winters can get cold and if it’s cold, it’s a “wet cold” so you’ll want to dress accordingly.

Shark Tooth Hunting PSA

The beach can be slick or muddy. Going barefoot is ideal as the clay accumulates on your shoes. In turn, you lose traction, and cleaning the clay off is a chore. Wear quick-drying clothing, as you will need to step into the water to access the beach (there are no docks). But if you must, consider water shoes or Crocs as you walk in the water.

We don’t offer “Dolphin Tours” per se… because they are part of every trip!

Can I bring my dog?2026-01-21T19:20:05-05:00

Yes! We are dog-friendly and welcome your four-legged friend(s) on board! However, depending on where you’d like to go, your pup may or may not be allowed.

Due to migratory birds, nesting shorebirds, and sea turtles, dogs are NOT allowed at the following destinations:

  • Wassaw Island/Wassaw National Wildlife Refuge
  • Ossabaw Island
  • Portions of Little Tybee Island

Other areas may require dogs to be on a leash, so please bring one if your pup joins your tour. Please bring your own doggie life jacket (though not required).

As with all migratory bird species, shorebirds and seabirds in Georgia are protected by the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Some species have additional protections under the Endangered Species Act.

Where are you located?2026-01-21T19:50:14-05:00

We are located in Historic Thunderbolt, Georgia, just minutes outside of Savannah, at the Safe Harbor Bahia Bleu Marina.

What should I bring?2026-01-21T20:13:03-05:00

Please note that space is limited, and what to bring depends on the type of tour you’ll be taking and the time of year.

A cooler with complimentary ice and cold water is available on every trip; feel free to BYOB and pack some snacks! We also have limited dry storage for you to stow any personal items. Be sure to bring your wallet and some sunscreen!

Your captain will review other items you may want to bring once you book your tour. In the meantime, check out our list of ideas here.

Dry storage is limited, so please pack only the necessities.

Is there a restroom on the boat?2026-01-21T20:20:59-05:00

No, there is no bathroom on board, but we can make stops to accommodate! In addition, there is a secure bathroom at the marina (upstairs); your captain will provide the code for the lock. We suggest everyone use the restroom before departure.

These facilities (including showers) are also open for use following the tours.

Can we tip our captain?2026-01-21T20:22:07-05:00

Absolutely. Gratuity is not included in the charter price. If you’ve enjoyed your experience, tips for our hardworking crew are greatly appreciated for the service they provided. Gratuity aboard a charter boat works similarly to gratuities in other service-providing industries and ranges from 15-25% of the cost of the boat tour.

Can we bring drinks, snacks, beer, and/or wine?2026-01-21T20:31:27-05:00

Yes. Alcoholic beverages are welcome for those ages 21 and over.

Please avoid bringing glass for safety reasons. Cans and/or boxed wine can be compacted in the trash can, taking up less room on board.

A cooler with ice is provided on the boat.

Do I need to bring/wear a life jacket?2026-01-21T20:33:06-05:00

Life jackets are available for everyone on board in case of an emergency.

Children under 13 must wear an appropriately sized PFD when the vessel is underway. Low Country Drifters has a variety of children’s life jackets available, but if you have your own, you’re welcome to bring them along.

You will be prompted to enter your child(ren)’s weight while booking your trip to ensure we have the appropriate PFD(s) ready for your group.

Destination-Specific Questions

Shark Tooth Island Excursions
Is it safe to hunt for shark teeth along the river?2026-01-21T20:17:29-05:00

Yes. When you go with an experienced guide. As highly advised by the U.S. Coast Guard, Low Country Drifters provides safe, reliable, and fully guided tours for shark tooth, fossil, and artifact hunting. Due to the Savannah River’s active shipping channel, which includes large container ships and extreme summer heat, drop-offs without a guide are strongly discouraged.

With Low Country Drifters, your safety is our top priority. Our captains remain on shore with you throughout the excursion, showing you how to spot shark teeth and fossils while helping identify the artifacts you uncover. We also keep a plentiful supply of cold water on board to keep you comfortable during your hunt.

Choosing a private, guided shark tooth hunting tour with Low Country Drifters means peace of mind, expert guidance, and the best chance of finding real treasures along the river.

Where does the Shark Tooth Excursion go?2026-01-21T19:47:20-05:00

Our excursions take you to Bird Island, also known as “Shark Tooth Island,” along with nearby spoil islands in the Savannah River. These hidden islands are only accessible by boat, making them the perfect place to uncover shark teeth, fossils, and other unique artifacts.

The boat ride itself is part of the adventure—along the way, you’ll have the chance to spot coastal wildlife (such as dolphins, egrets, or osprey, depending on the season) while your captain shares fascinating stories about Savannah’s waterways and coastal history.

With Low Country Drifters, you’ll be on the islands in just 15–20 minutes from our marina, giving you more time to hunt for treasures and enjoy the adventure.

What kind of shark teeth and fossils will I find?2026-01-21T19:24:53-05:00

Our Shark Tooth Excursions take you to spoil islands created from dredging the Savannah River, a process that’s been ongoing since the 1800s. Because this material is pulled up from the riverbed, it’s rich with fossils, shark teeth, and historical artifacts that have been buried for centuries—or even millions of years.

Guests often find fossilized shark teeth from bull, lemon, and sand tiger sharks, along with stingray plates, oyster fossils, and, occasionally, fragments from the legendary, massive, and prehistoric megalodon. In addition to fossils, it’s not uncommon to spot relics and artifacts, such as clay pipes and pottery shards, that reflect Savannah’s long history as a port city.

While not every trip uncovers a megalodon tooth, every excursion guarantees something unique—whether it’s a fossil, shark tooth, or artifact—and the excitement of uncovering pieces of history with your own hands. Our captains are right there to help identify your discoveries, turning each hunt into a memorable adventure.

Do I get to keep the shark teeth and fossils I find?2026-01-21T19:35:09-05:00

Absolutely, everything you find is yours to keep. From shark teeth and stingray plates to oyster fossils and even historic relics, you’ll take home your discoveries as unique souvenirs of your Shark Tooth Excursion in Savannah.

Can we combine shark tooth hunting with other activities, like beach hopping or a sunset cruise?2026-01-21T19:37:46-05:00

Yes—our tours are private and customizable. Many guests combine shark tooth hunting with a beach stop, lunch on Daufuskie Island, or a scenic sunset cruise drifting by landmarks like the Cockspur Island Lighthouse. Your captain will help plan a personalized itinerary for your 4- or 6-hour excursion.

Is shark tooth hunting family-friendly? Can kids participate?2026-01-21T19:38:50-05:00

Yes. Our excursions are designed for families, groups, and adventurers of all ages. Kids love the excitement of fossil hunting. Not only that, our captains love having kids on board and making the experience safe, engaging, and educational. Plus, there is a lot of beach for the little ones to burn off some energy.

Do you provide tools or bags for collecting shark teeth?2026-01-21T19:40:30-05:00

We provide bags for your finds, and your captain will show you the best techniques for spotting and identifying fossils. Guests are welcome to bring small hand tools if they wish, but most teeth and fossils can be collected directly from the surface.

How long is a Shark Tooth & Fossil Hunting excursion?2026-01-21T19:41:13-05:00

Half-day trips run about 4 hours, and full-day trips run 6 hours. Since all of our reservations are private and personalized, you set the pace and can decide how much time you want to spend fossil hunting versus exploring other spots.

What’s the best time of year to go shark tooth hunting in Savannah?2026-01-21T20:38:49-05:00

Shark tooth hunting is a year-round adventure.

Because our excursions take place on spoil islands created from dredged river material, there are always fresh opportunities to find shark teeth, fossils, and artifacts, no matter the season. That said, the water will be cooler and the days shorter in winter, but there will be fewer people on the shore.

Low Country Drifters offers trips year-round, so you can hunt whenever your schedule allows, and we schedule shark tooth trips during low tide to maximize the search area.

Yes. The island features a few local restaurants and cafes that capture the laid-back spirit of the Low Country. Hours vary, so we’ll recommend options based on your trip.

View restaurant, shopping, and libation options here.

Are there shops or galleries on the island?2026-01-21T21:11:36-05:00

Absolutely—Daufuskie is known for its artisans. In addition to small shops, you’ll find local, island-inspired art that makes for one-of-a-kind souvenirs.

View options here.

Is Daufuskie Island family-friendly?2026-01-21T21:12:38-05:00

Definitely. Kids love riding in golf carts, exploring beaches, visiting the community farm, and learning about the island’s history. We recommend discussing the pace of your trip with us so we can tailor it to your group.

How big is Daufuskie Island?2026-01-21T21:15:33-05:00

The island is about 5 miles long and 2.5 miles wide… small enough to explore by golf cart but full of rich history, great food, amazing people, and quiet beaches (3 miles of remote beachfront, to be exact).

Will I see wildlife on Daufuskie?2026-01-21T21:18:52-05:00

Most likely! The boat ride and the island offer opportunities to spot dolphins, seabirds, foxtail squirrels, alligators, deer, and other coastal wildlife, depending on the season.

View our Daufuskie Island gallery.

Daufuskie Island Water Taxi

Yes! We allow one medium-sized suitcase or bin and a personal item per person, plus one cooler per group. Many guests stock up in Savannah before heading to the island. We just ask that there be no loose grocery bags on the boat.

The transit takes approximately 45 minutes, depending on tides and weather.

Yes, all Low Country Drifters transit charters to Daufuskie Island are private for your group only.

Possibly; it all depends on our schedule. Please reach out to us with specific questions.

We can accommodate up to six guests per boat/trip with room for luggage.

If you have more than six guests, we may be able to use two boats. Please contact us for more information.

Our baggage rules are quite simple:

  • We allow one medium-sized suitcase or bin and a personal item per person, plus one cooler per group.

We understand that guests staying for a week have different needs than those staying for the weekend. That being said, it’s important to note that boats have weight limits. To ensure a safe ride, it’s best not to overpack. Our captains will always advise if asked.

Text our universal number with your question(s): (912) 328-4924, and be sure to use our baggage policy as a guide.

Indeed. Please view our page, What to do on Daufuskie Island, for more information, including things to do, where to eat, and an island map.

Daufuskie is a golf cart island. Review our tips for staying on the island for helpful information (as in, you’ll want to rent a cart, not ferry your vehicle over).

Sure can. Just keep in mind, cargo space is limited, so it may make for a tight ride. There are bike rentals on the island, however, and some rentals include bicycles. Check out our tips for Staying on Daufuskie.

Do you offer Dolphin Tours?2026-01-21T21:20:57-05:00

Very likely! Dolphins are commonly spotted in our local waterways, where about 400 resident dolphins live. We also often see a variety of coastal wildlife like birds, stingrays, crabs, and the occasional manatee or sea turtle. While we can’t guarantee sightings (nature does its own thing), our captains know the area well and will take you to spots where wildlife tends to appear. Keep your eyes open—you never know what might pop up alongside the boat.

So, we don’t offer “Dolphin Tours” per se… because they are part of every trip!

Do you help with birthdays, proposals, or special occasions?2026-01-21T21:27:01-05:00

Yes! We’ve definitely done all of the above, and we love being part of moments that matter. Whether it’s a surprise proposal, a laid-back birthday beach day, or a special family celebration, we’ll help craft a private experience that fits the vibe you’re going for. Let us know what you’re celebrating, and we’ll make it unforgettable.

We’ve been fortunate enough to celebrate birthdays, assist with weddings and surprise proposals, manage the playlist for bachelorette parties, host corporate outings, and pop the cork for some honeymoon champagne.

Additional costs may apply. Contact us to share your idea!

Can I rent a boat from Low Country Drifters?2026-01-21T21:28:28-05:00

We get this question a lot. Unfortunately, no. Low Country Drifters does not offer boat rentals.

That said, we highly recommend NOT renting a boat in the area if you are not familiar with Savannah’s waters, as the coastal landscape is constantly reshaping. Shifting channels and sandbars are a natural result of powerful tides, storms, and river currents. These dynamic changes can alter navigation routes and require local knowledge to safely traverse the waterways.

I just bought a boat. Can you help me learn the area… and my boat?2026-01-21T21:31:11-05:00

Indeed! Our captains are here to help you become accustomed to the Low Country waterways. Even with prior boating experience, the Georgia Coast is much different than other areas, especially with our tides. The Savannah River Entrance experiences a significant tide swing, with a maximum tidal range of 11 feet… meaning… the water level can fluctuate by nearly 11 feet between high and low tides.

But that’s the type of thing our captains will explain to you, drop lines into your GPS, show you the ins and outs, and even help you become more familiar with docking, navigation, etc.

Our captains have assisted numerous new boat owners and veteran boaters who are new to the area.

Is there a Birding Tour?2026-01-21T21:36:52-05:00

Just like Dolphin Tours, we do not have a specific Birding Tour. However, we can plan a tour that stops at locations where shorebirds, migratory birds, waders, eagles, osprey, and more thrive. Keep in mind that the migratory birds are in the area nesting and showing off their plumes between mid-March and August-ish. Let us know that you’re interested in birding when booking your tour. As a reminder, our team is certified in Coastal Awareness & Responsible Ecotourism.

Before you go, check out some of our posts focusing on birds, and don’t forget your binoculars!

Can we combine destinations?2026-01-21T21:41:20-05:00

You sure can! One of the best parts of a private charter with Low Country Drifters is the freedom to mix and match. Whether you want to hunt for shark teeth and explore Daufuskie, or visit a remote beach after spotting dolphins, we’ll help you design a day that fits your interests.

Just keep in mind that some destinations are farther apart, and tides and timing can affect what’s possible in a single trip. We’ll work with you ahead of time to set realistic expectations and make the most of your day on the water.

Contact our team here.

Can we plan a trip for a large group?2026-01-21T21:46:03-05:00

Can we accommodate more than six? Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: With multiple licensed boat captains and multiple boats (and two golf carts on Daufuskie), we can accommodate more than six guests, but the group will have to be split across multiple boats, with six guests on each. It can be done – and we have done it before.

Contact us to discuss your idea!

Do you offer corporate boat tours?2026-01-21T22:18:41-05:00

Yes. We offer private boat tours for corporate groups, conference attendees, team building, and client appreciation in Savannah.

Trips are customized to fit your schedule and may include scenic cruising, coastal wildlife, local history, and time to relax on the water. Group size can range from small, intimate parties of up to 6 guests to larger groups of up to 12 guests across two boats.

We have hosted reputable brands with varying end goals.

Policies

What happens if the weather is bad?2026-01-21T22:12:13-05:00

Your comfort and safety are always our top priority. Because we operate on the Georgia coast, brief rain showers are possible, especially during the summer months. These coastal showers tend to pass quickly and rarely impact a tour.

Our captains run one tour per day, which allows us flexibility to adjust departure times if weather is moving through. In peak season, captains are often booked on consecutive days, so rescheduling to a different date may not be possible.

If unsafe weather is imminent, we’ll first look to shift timing when possible. If conditions don’t allow for a safe experience, we may need to cancel. While canceling is always a last resort, safety comes first, and your captain will communicate directly with you every step of the way. Canceled tours due to weather will receive a full refund.

What if we’re running late?2026-01-21T22:12:07-05:00

We get it—things come up! If you’re running late, please let your captain know as soon as possible so they’re not left waiting at the dock. Your charter time starts at the agreed-upon departure time, not when you arrive, so any delays may shorten your outing.

We’ll always do our best to work with you when possible, but out of respect for the captain’s schedule and time they could have spent with their family, timely arrival is important. As soon as you realize you may be behind schedule, a quick heads-up goes a long way!

What is your cancellation policy?2026-01-21T22:11:56-05:00

We offer free cancellation or rebooking up to 24 hours before your scheduled departure. This gives us a chance to offer the spot to another guest. If you need to cancel, just let us know as soon as possible—we’re happy to work with you.

No-shows and cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance are typically non-refundable, as that time has been reserved just for you.

Generally speaking, our captains won’t cancel or reschedule a reservation unless there is imminent danger, an emergency, or something out of their control. Guests will receive a full refund if Low Country Drifters cancels the trip. That said, we know unexpected things can happen, and we’ll always do our best to find a solution.

Are there any restrictions?2026-01-21T22:11:48-05:00

Safety Considerations
We welcome all guests to board our boats; however, to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, please review the following:

  • Pregnant guests: While there are no strict restrictions, please note the boat may encounter choppy waters. Consult your healthcare provider if you have concerns.
  • Guests with limited mobility: Boarding and exiting the boat may involve steps, inclines, and long docks. Please discuss your needs with us to determine if this tour is suitable.
  • Shark Tooth Hunting Participants: If your tour includes shark tooth hunting, be aware that the beach may be slick and uneven. Proper footwear is recommended, and boarding/exiting the boat may require using the bow or a ladder from the water. Participants should be comfortable with this process.

By booking our tours, you acknowledge these conditions and accept personal responsibility for your participation.

We went on a private boat tour with Low Country Drifters, and it was an unforgettable experience!
Captain Bryan was so knowledgeable and friendly, sharing interesting facts about the history and ecology of the area.
We cruised past beautiful scenery, spotted dolphins playing in the water, found several shark teeth on the beach, and enjoyed a delicious lunch of burgers and patty melts from The Burger Boat.

Since he does private tours, it was just the 3 of us, and we weren’t crammed into a boat with lots of people.
It also allowed Capt Bryan to provide a completely personalized tour.
Our experience was everything we wanted and more! It was a perfect way to spend our first day in Savannah!

Captain Bryan of Low Country Drifters is an exceptionally knowledgeable boat captain, fossil hunter, and tour guide.

He took my wife and daughter out today to look for shark teeth, dinosaur bones, pottery shards, and other relics of ages past, and we were fully satisfied.

He gave us an ecological and historical tour of the Savannah ICW, brought us to Daufuskie Island in South Carolina for an excellent lunchtime meal, and made sure our photo opportunities were numerous and perfect.

10/10 would recommend to anyone wanting to tour the Savannah area!

There is nothing Captain Bryan doesn’t know about this island or its history!
He also is a wealth of information on the waterways and Daufuskie Island, where we also had a great tour…and a visit to the rookery where the birds were abundant!

Who knew I was going to book a custom private boat experience and feel like I walked away with a new friend? Captain Bryan took charge and planned an amazing day, even picking up supplies I needed since my group was from out of town.

We saw local treasures off the beaten path, met some great locals at a few stops, and sang country music as we headed back in with cloudy skies… it was absolute perfection, and no one was going to rain on our parade that day. My only regret is that we didn’t have enough time with him.

Not only is he exceptionally skilled, he’s an interesting gentleman. If you’re looking for a unique and personalized day trip, you can end your search here. We will all miss you, Captain, and be assured we will be back!
