Explore Savannah’s ecology and wildlife by boat

Untouched coastal views

Experience an unforgettable journey through Georgia’s Low Country with Low Country Drifters’ private eco tours. Glide along the Intracoastal Waterway, drift through secluded marshes, and discover the incredible wildlife and rich history of Savannah’s coastal waterways.

Every tour includes an eco-focused experience, and for those who want to make nature the centerpiece, our captains can craft a trip tailored to birding, wildlife spotting, and hands-on ecological discovery.

Discover Local Wildlife

Savannah’s waterways are alive with a diversity of animals—both resident and migratory. As you explore the marshes, islands, and hidden inlets accessible only by boat, keep your binoculars ready: the Low Country is teeming with life.

Wildlife you may encounter
  • Birds: Roseate spoonbills, snowy egrets, great blue herons, ospreys, anhingas, and cormorants. Migratory birds, such as sandpipers and terns, typically pass through from March to May and again from September to November, offering spectacular seasonal sightings.
  • Marine Life: Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, manatees, sea turtles (nesting season from May to October), and an assortment of crabs, oysters, and horseshoe crabs.
  • Reptiles & Amphibians: American alligators, turtles, and various marsh frogs.

Each tour offers a unique opportunity to witness the vibrant ecosystem of the Low Country firsthand. Whether you’re seeking an intimate birding excursion or a broad ecological adventure, our captains guide you to the best wildlife hotspots and provide fascinating insights into their behavior and habitats.

Savannah Eco Tour

Experience Savannah’s Low Country like never before, where every trip is an eco-adventure, and every view tells a story.

Tailored Experiences

While every tour naturally includes a focus on ecology, our eco-specialized excursions can prioritize:

  • Birdwatching and photography are prime during the migratory seasons
  • Wildlife-focused cruises to see dolphins and other Low Country creatures
  • Hands-on learning about marshland ecology–like why wildlife love the Low Country
  • Seasonal highlights, such as migratory birds or nesting sea turtle areas

Our goal is to make every trip both educational and immersive. Guests can pause, observe, and appreciate the small wonders of the marsh, or simply relax and take in the scenery.
