Small Crew. Big Heart. Authentic Adventures.
Drifting Different: Female-Owned. Family-Led. Veteran-Guided.
About
Just like a drifter moves with the tides and takes in the world at their own pace without a fixed route, our tours let you experience the Low Country’s waterways in a relaxed, immersive way. From cruising through marshlands and spotting wildlife to shark tooth hunting on the river, the experience reflects a free-spirited, go-with-the-flow attitude that defines the drifter way of life.
It started in Thunderbolt, Georgia—a quiet, charming riverside village just outside Savannah—where life is still tied to tides, shrimp boats, and storytelling. Inspired by long days spent navigating hidden creeks, watching the sky melt into the marsh at sunset, and swapping stories at the dock, Low Country Drifters was born.
Our Mission
To share the views, beauty, mystery, and stories of the Low Country—by boat, by memory, and by heart.
Whether it’s a sunset cruise through Savannah’s back rivers, a history-infused journey, a walk through a maritime forest, or a drift to Daufuskie, every trip is about slowing down and soaking in the real magic of the Low Country.
Our Commitment to the Coast
More Than a Tour. A Mission.
At Low Country Drifters, we believe that to truly enjoy the beauty of the Georgia coast, we must first commit to protecting it. We don’t just “drift”—we lead with a philosophy of sustainable tourism and responsible ecotourism. When you step onto our boats, you are stepping into a legacy of conservation and deep local roots.

Certified Stewards of the Water
We don’t just talk about the environment; we back it up with rigorous training and industry-leading certifications. Our team members are CARE Certified (Certified Advocates for the Resource & Ecosystem) through the UGA Marine Extension, Georgia Sea Grant, and Manomet.
This specialized training, made possible by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources Coastal Resources Division, ensures that every charter we lead minimizes our footprint while maximizing your education on the delicate Low Country ecosystem.

A Georgia Clean Marina Partner
Our marina, Bahia Bleu Safe Harbor, is a proud partner of the Georgia Clean Marina program.
We adhere to the highest standards of environmental safety and water quality. Our operations are designed to keep the Intracoastal Waterway as pristine for the next generation as it is for us today.
USCG Licensed & Insured
Your safety is non-negotiable. Every Low Country Drifters charter is led by a USCG-Licensed Captain.
This federal “6-pack” credential means your captain has passed rigorous maritime exams, sea-time requirements, and medical screenings to ensure your group is in the most capable hands on the water.
Veteran-Led Integrity: Our guides’ military background means we value discipline, safety, and a profound respect for the land we served to protect.
Why it Matters to You
When you book with a certified eco-tour company:
- Wildlife First: We observe dolphins, eagles, and manatees while using “no-wake” and maintaining respectful distances that don’t stress the animals.
- Expert Insight: You aren’t just seeing a marsh; you’re learning how it functions as the “nursery of the ocean” from certified advocates.
