Captain Matt
You may have noticed a new face around Low Country Drifters — that’s right, we’ve added another captain to the crew! Help us give a warm welcome to Captain Matt!
Captain Matt has spent his entire life on the water. He earned his boating permit at just 12 years old and grew up exploring the Housatonic River and Bantam Lake in Connecticut. Before commissioning into the Army through Virginia Tech, he worked as a charter captain and watersports instructor with Connecticut Watersports.
Luckily for us, the Army brought him to the Low Country. Captain Matt is currently stationed at Fort Stewart, finishing his final year of service. He holds a 25-ton Master Captain’s License and brings a deep love for the water to every trip.
Thanks to Captain Matt joining the team, we’re excited to offer more ways to explore the coast — including expanded water taxi service to Daufuskie Island and new sunset cruises that have already been a hit with guests. He’s also been busy leading shark tooth hunts and off-the-beaten-path adventures that capture what Low Country Drifters is all about.
We’re thrilled to have you on board, Captain Matt!
